Wildrose Indigenous Relations and Emergency Response & Disaster Preparedness Shadow Minister
Dave Hanson was elected to the Alberta Legislature on May 05, 2015 in the constituency of Lac La Biche – St. Paul – Two Hills.
I was born and raised in Two Hills Alberta where I went to elementary and junior high school until the end of grade nine. I was also a member of the Two Hills air cadet squadron in junior high.
My family moved to Edmonton while maintaining our home near Duvernay. My parents eventually moved back to Duvernay when my dad retired from teaching at NAIT.
My wife and I were married in 1981 and lived in Edmonton until we got the opportunity to buy my grandparents farm northeast of St. Paul in the hamlet of Owlseye in 1992. It was a great opportunity to raise our two children in a country setting. While raising our son and daughter on the farm Donna and I had a purebred Black Angus herd as well as quarter horses which we still have several. I have been working over 37 years in the construction industry in both commercial construction and oil and gas industry. I have worked my way through apprenticeship, receiving three trade tickets at age 22 and have worked my way through the ranks as a foreman, superintendent, all the way up to my current position as a consultant and construction inspector to a major Alberta oil and gas company.
During the construction recession in the 80’s, I took a couple of years off and returned to school, eventually ending with a certificate in Medical Radiography from NAIT and U of A hospital. Due to cuts to the medical front lines it was back to the oil business for me.
We are very proud of our children. Our son is in his last year of Med school at U of A with degrees in chemistry and business. Our daughter has a degree in Nursing from Grant McEwan University.
We feel very blessed to have lived in this great province of Alberta and I look forward to the opportunity to give something back to our community. I want to make my community and this province a place our son and daughter will want to move back to and raise their families.
