Derek Fildebrandt

Wildrose Finance & Treasury Board Shadow Minister

Derek Fildebrandt was elected to the Alberta Legislature on May 5, 2015 in the constituency of Strathmore-Brooks, and serves as the Wildrose Shadow Minister of Finance.

As the former Alberta Director & National Research Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, Fildebrandt fought to scrap the long-gun registry, reform gold-plated MP pensions, and require First Nation Chiefs to publicly disclose their salaries to band members. Fildebrandt has fought for balanced budgets and used dozens of Freedom of Information requests to expose waste and corruption in the former PC government.

Derek comes from a middle-class family and grew up in small – mostly military – towns across Canada. He’s a proud Albertan, recently married to his wife Emma. He has two German Shepherds, is a lifelong fisherman, a sport shooter and a guitarist.
