Glenn van Dijken
Shadow Transportation Minister
Glenn van Dijken was elected to the Alberta Legislature on May 05, 2015 in the constituency of Barrhead – Morinville – Westlock.
Glenn is very passionate about the future well-being of families and the rural community. Glenn is an extremely active member of the community and has volunteered on many boards, committees, and organizations that do significant work in keeping our rural community a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. Some of these groups include the Neerlandia Co-op board, the Western Hog Exchange, hockey and baseball associations, and church council,
Prior to being elected, Glenn and his wife Barb operated a grain farm near Dapp, Alberta and previously also raised hogs and cattle. They were both honoured with the Alberta Outstanding Young Farmers award in 2001, and also served as Alberta co-chairs of the Canadian Outstanding Young Farmer program during 2009 and 2010. Together they have raised five children, four of whom have graduated from and one that is currently attending the University of Alberta. They also have four grandchildren.
Glenn has been a member of the Wildrose Party since 2009 and a founding member of the local Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock constituency association board.
Glenn is honest, hardworking and will do what it takes to get the job done.
